Tutoring:

Scheduling and sessions:

My default is in person sessions in your home in the evening hours (3:30-9:00 or so). Typically I schedule 1 hour sessions or longer, but for elementary students I find they do better with 45 minutes, at least for the first few sessions. I also offer google meet tutoring, and I have a good setup with an iPad, apple pencil, and screenshare. This works excellently with most high school students and many middle school students, so it’s a great option if you live far from me, you only need a brief session, or in case of illness. I prefer to have a regular weekly appointment, and I check in to confirm in advance. If you don’t need help on any given week just let me know when I confirm and we’ll skip that week.

I use Setmore for scheduling. You can log in and choose additional sessions, cancel a session, and pay in advance if you'd like. The link is here, in my email signature, and on my website.

Communication:

After each session, within 48 hours, I write up brief notes with what we covered, my observations about what might help, and things the student agreed to do (such as take a make-up test). I’ll include links to anything I think might be helpful. I also note the hours we met, and a running total for the month. I publish the notes to a honeybook portal for your family and send you the link.

You are welcome to reach out to me between sessions (I’m the most responsive to text) with questions, concerns, anything you think might help the student’s success! I also will respond to content questions from the student in between sessions, and I don’t usually charge for those hours unless it’s a significant amount of time.

Fees and payments:

In person tutoring, evening and Sunday hours: $60/hour

Zoom tutoring, evening and Sunday hours: $60/hour

I round to the nearest quarter hour increment.

I bill after the close of the month for all the hours we’ve completed for that month. (September 1st I’ll bill for August hours). I send an invoice via honeybook which you can pay online, or I can also take a card in person, or a check is fine as well. I’m pretty understanding about late payments, but I may withhold further tutoring in the event of non payment.

Late cancellations and skipped appointments:

Cancellations made before 10 AM on weekdays or Saturday at 8 PM for Sundays have no fee. Later cancellations have a $30 fee. Also, in order to keep your weekly reserved time 3 sessions need to be completed out of each rolling 4 week period. (talk to me for special circumstances)
